Southwest University Changshu Research Institute is an industry-university-research joint innovation carrier established by Southwest University and Changshu Municipal Government that integrates technology research and development, achievement transfer, scientific and technological services, talent training and entrepreneurial incubation. It is located in Building 5, Chuangyuan High-tech Industrial Park, No. 68 Lianfeng Road, Changshu City.
Southwest University Changshu Research Institute implements corporate management and establishes Southwest University (Changshu) Research Institute Co., Ltd. and implements a general manager responsibility system under the supervision of the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board. The main directions of the institute include investment management of agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery projects; cultivation, processing and sales of agricultural products; research and development of biological agents; research, production, sales and technical consultation and technical services of computer software and hardware; promotion and transfer of high-tech achievements, etc.
Since its establishment, the Changshu Research Institute of Southwest University has always adhered to the philosophy of pursuing excellence and being down-to-earth, and aims to build the institute into a well-known research institute with distinctive characteristics in the Yangtze River Delta region. The institute will focus on development in the following three aspects:
1. Scientific research
In scientific research, the institute draws on Southwest University’s academic strengths and the policy, economic and geographical advantages of Suzhou and Changshu to establish postgraduate workstations and attract outstanding talent from China and abroad. Addressing the Yangtze River Delta’s needs in modern agriculture, key tasks include agricultural research in diverse forms, promotion of technologies and products, strategic research, and platforms for integrating and sharing resources across universities and regions.
2. Talent training
In terms of talent training, we always give top priority to the quality of school running, focus on the intersection and integration of disciplines, and focus on creating a campus cultural atmosphere that is conducive to cultivating high-quality talents at various levels. Since the launch of professional degree master's degree in Suzhou Teaching Center in 2010, it has successively opened MBA, accounting master's degree, finance master's degree and other majors, and has trained more than 300 full-time professional degree graduate students. In terms of cultivating professional degree graduate students, we focus on cultivating students' practical ability, carry out school-enterprise cooperation, and build internship bases with well-known accounting firms, banks, and securities companies to improve students' ability to adapt to the market. The students we train are well received by employers.
3. Industry-university-research cooperation
Changshu Research Institute of Southwest University will actively promote the transformation of the achievements of our institute and Southwest University in Suzhou. We adhere to the development concept of "promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and promoting the organic combination of intellectual capital and industry". We actively rely on Southwest University's brand advantages, research institutes, school-running experience, scientific research strength and other high-quality resources. Based in Suzhou, we continue to increase scientific research and development efforts and provide entrepreneurial incubation services for Southwest University's scientific research projects and social high-tech projects with market prospects. We strive to make important contributions to improving the quality of scientific research and development in the Yangtze River Delta region and promoting the rapid and sustainable development of the regional economy.
